To All the Daughters

"I wrote this at a time when I was more terrified than I had ever been to leave my house. The femicide in the country had reached scary heights and it seemed with every new story, the disease was getting closer and closer to home. Nowhere felt safe. Everyone had something to hide. A single question was on the minds of every daughter: Am I Next?

I wrote this as a letter to the daughters because I knew they were just as scared as I was, if not more so.

I wrote this for Uyinene and her family and all the families just like hers that will never be the same again.

Writing this eased my heart a little, and I hope hearing it eased theirs."
